Why you should spend Valentines in Bournemouth
We believe that Bournemouth is the perfect place to spend Valentines Day this year. Of course, at the Hermitage in Bournemouth we're going to be slightly biased but we know how great Bournemouth is and also how romantic it can be. Bournemouth is now recognized as a trendy yet tranquil retreat with something to suit everybody rather than a place for retirement and slowing down and is perfect for those looking to relax this Valentines Day.
We've put together just a few ways that you can enjoy this Valentines Day in Bournemouth below.
- For those that don't already know, Bournemouth has two beaches which provide picturesque settings for long, wind swept walks. While the weather might not be the best in February, you will be able to warm yourselves in one of the many wine and cocktail bars along the way to make your walks that much more enjoyable.

- While many might consider going abroad for Valentines Day, it might be a better idea to look closer to home. Bournemouth was recently voted number one for an at home vacation. The decision was based on a number of factors which included the prices of the great Hotels in the area, the quality of the beaches and availability of many restaurants and tourist attractions.
- Bournemouth has recently opened its long awaited surf reef in Boscombe. Despite the seasonally bad weather that you’ll expect around Valentines, many surfers will still be hitting the waves come rain or shine. If surfing is one of your passions then you wont be disappointed with the many restaurants located within the area such as newly opened Urban Reef located near the new Boscombe beach development. If it's not then it's worth taking the short walk from the Hermitage Hotel up the coast to take a view at the many surfers in the sea to make yourself feel warmer!

- A less strenuous but potentially more expensive activity to undertake while visiting Bournemouth on Valentines will be to pay a visit to the high street shops and smaller boutique stores. There are many unique shops located around Bournemouths central square from which you can walk directly to from the beach or through Bournemouth gardens and spend many hours.
- if you've got the ice skating bug from watching too much Sunday television the perhaps some indoor ice skating might be worth a try. Located at Bournemouth International Centre just a minutes walk from the Hermitage. The ice skating rink will only be open until the 21st February 2010 so you'll need to make sure you pay it a visit to make sure you don't miss out.
